Nushki (also spelled Noshki) is a city in the Nushki District of Balochistan, Pakistan. Located southwest of Quetta at an elevation of 2,900 feet (884 meters), it serves as a key transit point near the Iran–Pakistan border, approximately 75 kilometers from the border town of Taftan. As of the 2023 census, Nushki District has a population of 207,834, with 48,572 residents living in urban areas. The majority of the population speaks Brahui (56.87%), followed by Balochi (38.46%) and Pashto (4.34%). Islam is the predominant religion, comprising 99.13% of the population
Recent Events
2025 Oil Tanker Explosion: On April 28, 2025, an oil tanker explosion occurred in Nushki District due to a fuel leak and subsequent fire. The incident resulted in two fatalities and injuries to at least 56 individuals, including firefighters and bystanders .
2024 Shooting Incident: On April 12, 2024, armed assailants abducted and killed nine passengers from Punjab traveling in a bus from Quetta to Taftan.
